Author: Shirley J. Buxton
Shirley Buxton likes to point out that she was born a Pentecostal baby, and although far from perfect, she has always remained in the church. Her dad was a Pentecostal preacher, she married a Pentecostal preacher, and two of her sons and one grandson are Pentecostal preachers. The work of God has been, and continues to be, the theme of her life. She and her husband, Gerald, evangelized, and then pastored two churches in southern California for a total of 34 years. Shirley assisted with counseling, taught classes and home Bible studies, led ladies prayer meetings, wrote and directed dramatic presentations, and was closely involved with the music ministry of both churches. She is a frequent speaker at ladies functions. For more than 20 years, Shirley has been involved in the organizational ladies work of the Western District, serving as sectional leader, secretary of the department, and as president of the Ladies Ministries. They reside now in Crestline, CA., a small town that sets 5000 feet high in the San Bernardino Mountains. She is most happy when her family comes to visit.
